Uno straordinario e inaspettato ritrovamento è quello che è stato reso noto oggi dalla Soprintendenza archeologia, belle arti e paesaggio di Verona. Durante alcuni scavi effettuati presso l’ex cinema Astra è tornata alla luce una “piccola Pompei”.
Mentre si scavava nell’ambito di un progetto di ristrutturazione e riqualificazione dell’edificio, nell’interrato dell’ex cinema Astra, in via Oberdan 13 a Verona, chiuso da molti anni, è stato scoperto un complesso risalente all’età romana imperiale (II secolo), di cui ancora non si conoscono bene i dettagli né la funzione che aveva.
La particolarità è che presenta delle similitudini con Pompei, da qui il soprannome di Piccola Pompei. Come mai? Sono stati rinvenuti muri splendidamente affrescati con diversi colori, pavimenti decorati da tessere e crustae, impianti di riscaldamento a pavimento e a parete e, inoltre, a mettere fine a tutto questo sarebbe stato un incendio.
