Infatti, il capo del Pentagono, Lloyd Austin, oltre a dare l’ordine di rafforzare la protezione delle truppe statunitensi in Afghanistan durante il loro pseudo-ritiro, ha deciso di estendere la missione svolta nelle acque della regione dalla USS Eisenhower, del Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti, e di schierarvi bombardieri a lungo raggio. Lo ha annunciato ieri il portavoce del Pentagono John Kirby.
Austin ha approvato “l’aggiunta di alcuni bombardieri a lungo raggio” in preparazione del ritiro. Al momento, due B-52 sono già arrivati ??nella regione.
“Penso che sia ragionevole presumere che potrebbero esserci misure protettive da forze aggiuntive temporanee di cui avremmo bisogno per assicurarci che questa riduzione avvenga senza intoppi e in sicurezza”, ha detto Kirby.
Inoltre non ha escluso l’idea di inviare più rinforzi per garantire il ritiro sicuro e senza intoppi dei circa 2.500 soldati statunitensi ancora in Afghanistan. Allo stesso modo, è prevista una pattuglia aerea da combattimento sul Paese, durante il ritiro, per garantire la sicurezza.
