“Un raggruppamento congiunto di forze [russe e bielorusse] ha esercitato compiti relativi a respingere un’aggressione congiunta contro lo Stato dell’Unione”, ha poi confermato il primo viceministro della Difesa, il maggiore generale Alexander Volfovich.
“Come parte di questa fase [della missione di addestramento], le truppe si sono esercitate a catturare linee e posizioni di difesa, azioni di combattimento volte a mantenere una zona di difesa tattica, supporto al fuoco delle truppe in difesa, assalto aereo, supporto dell’aviazione”, ha spiegato il dirigente di Minsk.
La prima fase dell’esercitazione russo-bielorussa Slavic Brotherhood-2020 è iniziata in Bielorussia il 14 settembre. La Russia ha inviato unità da un reggimento d’assalto aviotrasportato della forza aerea di Pskov. In precedenza, il ministero della Difesa russo aveva affermato che l’esercizio seguiva scenari antiterrorismo e non era diretto contro altri paesi.
La seconda fase dell’esercitazione si è svolta nella Bielorussia occidentale dal 22 settembre al 25 settembre. La Russia ha inviato oltre 900 militari e circa 100 pezzi di equipaggiamento militare.
Alle esercitazioni era prevista la partecipazione della Serbia come di consueto. Ma da Belgrado hanno fatto sapere di essere impossibilitati a prendere parte all’addestramento a causa di pesanti pressioni provenienti dall’Unione Europea.
