Il Procuratore capo di Palermo Francesco Lo Voi, al termine della discussione, ha chiesto il rinvio a giudizio dell’ex ministro dell’Interno Matteo Salvini, accusato di sequestro di persona e rifiuto di atti di ufficio nell’ambito del procedimento per il caso Open Arms. Salvini è accusato di avere trattenuto “illecitamente” 147 migranti a bordo della ong spagnola nell’agosto del 2019. A differenza della Procura di Catania che per il caso Gregoretti chiede il non luogo a procedere, i magistrati di Palermo chiedono per il leader della Lega il processo. La discussione è stata sostenuta dai tre magistrati presenti in aula, al bunker del carcere Ucciardone di Palermo.

La prima a parlare è stata la Procuratrice aggiunta Marzia Sabella, seguita dal pm Geri Ferrara. Ha concluso il Capo della Procura Francesco Lo Voi. “Non vedremmo come in un caso come questo non si possa chiedere il rinvio a giudizio”, ha ribadito il magistrato.
Nel corso della discussione sono intervenuti anche il pm Ferrara, che ha evidenziato come “l’obbligo di salvare vite umane prevale su altre esigenze” e la Procuratrice aggiunta Marzia Sabella. “Il Ministro dell’Interno (Matteo Salvini, ndr) – ha affermato quest’ultima – declinò la responsabilità per i minori, alla fine, ‘suo malgrado’ diede il consenso allo sbarco dei minori”. Il gup Lorenzo Jannelli, prima di dare la parola ai pm, dopo una breve camera di consiglio, ha ammesso tutti gli atti richiesti dall’accusa e dalla difesa.
