La Camera dei Comuni ha respinto stasera la mozione presentata dal governo britannico di Boris Johnson per ottenere le elezioni politiche anticipate il 12 dicembre. Il mancato sì dell’opposizione laburista ha impedito di raggiungere il necessario quorum dei due terzi, come già in due altre occasioni. Al governo Tory resta però ora la strada di sostenere la nuova proposta di altri 2 partiti d’opposizione, LibDem e Snp, per andare al voto il 9 dicembre modificando a maggioranza semplice da domani la legge vigente sulle elezioni.
Johnson a Tusk, nessuna ulteriore proroga oltre 31 gennaio – “Chiederò agli Stati membri dell’Ue di chiarire che un’ulteriore proroga dopo il 31 gennaio non sarà possibile”. Così il premier britannico Boris Johnson nella lettera indirizzata al presidente del Consiglio europeo Donald Tusk nella quale conferma l’ok formale del Regno Unito alla estensione flessibile, ma la definisce “indesiderata” e parla di “imposizione” al suo governo contro la sua volontà”. “I 27 Paesi Ue hanno deciso di accettare la richiesta del Regno Unito di una ‘flextension’ fino 31 gennaio 2020. La decisione sarà formalizzata con una procedura scritta”: aveva annunciato questa mattina su Twitter il presidente del Consiglio europeo Donald Tusk.
